The Cabinet of Ministers supported the idea of ​​allowing advertising of Russian wineries on billboards

The government has approved a bill that allows advertising of Russian wineries, specific areas and zones where grapes are grown and wine is made, on billboards. About it reported Izvestia with reference to the government’s response to the bill.

Initially, the amendments provided for permission to place advertisements for specific brands, but the government rejected this clause “in order to protect the life and health of citizens.”

At the same time, the government noted that “it is necessary to limit the use of samples of consumer packaging (containers) of alcoholic beverages in advertising materials.”

The bill was submitted to the State Duma in February 2022, but has not yet passed the first reading. According to the text of the explanatory note, its goal is to create favorable conditions for the development of winemaking in Russia.

Now advertising of alcoholic beverages in Russia is almost completely prohibited. At the same time, locally produced wine can be advertised in newspapers and magazines (except for the first and last page), at restaurant and food exhibitions, as well as on television and radio at night.

By 2023, the share of Russian wine in the domestic market reached 55%, said in April, Secretary of State – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov. According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Marina Afonina, 65.2 million deciliters (dal) of wine products were produced in 2022, which is 8% more than the volumes of 2021. At the same time, the largest increase was recorded in the sparkling wine category.
