The average damage caused to large Russian companies from July 2022 to June 2023 increased by a third compared to the same previous period, RTK Solar cybersecurity company calculated. According to experts, among 300 representatives of large businesses and the public sector, the damage to companies over the year amounted to at least 20 million rubles. without taking into account reputational losses.
According to the RTK Solar report cited by RIA Novosti, the increase in losses of Russian companies due to the actions of hackers is provoked by the fact that tools for reconnaissance of the attack surface, with the help of which hackers detect entry points to the system, are actively distributed. However, network attacks remain the most popular method of gaining access to computers and servers among cybercriminals.
According to RTK Solar, in the first six months of this year, the activity of miners in network traffic has doubled. At the same time, the share of hacker attacks using SSL encryption to hide fraudulent activity increased by 53%.
According to MTS RED, the total number of cyber attacks on Russian companies almost doubled in April-June, to 12.7 thousand incidents. Hackers have become especially active against IT companies – the number of such attacks has quadrupled, to 4 thousand. Experts suggest that the shift in the interest of attackers, who after the outbreak of hostilities focused primarily on state-owned companies, towards IT may be due to the desire to gain access to the infrastructure and customer data.
