A TASS source familiar with the Rosaviatsia telegram said: “We inform you about the introduction of temporary airspace restrictions until 10:20 UTC (+3 hours Moscow time) in an area bounded by a circle with a radius of 200 km, at all altitudes. We ask you to use alternative flight routes and ensure fuel supply.
As follows from the data of the Flightradar24 service, which tracks the movement of aircraft, there are no civilian aircraft in the sky over the city and the Leningrad Region. Flights from Moscow to St. Petersburg make circles or return back.
RIA Novosti, citing a representative of emergency services, reported that the sky over the airport was closed due to an unknown object. “An unknown object is flying near Pulkovo airport. The sky is closed, flights and landings of aircraft have been stopped,” the source said. TV channel REN TV referring to an anonymous source, he reports that “there are military aircraft in the sky, a search is underway for the intruder.”
Rossiya Airlines, which was formed in 2006 from the Pulkovo airline and is now part of the Aeroflot group, has adjusted the operation of flights to and from St. Petersburg due to information about air restrictions, RIA Novosti reports.
