At the end of 2023, the monthly audience of dating services grew by 6–10%, they report “Vedomosti” with reference to data from Tele2 and MTS. Downloads of dating apps grew by 5.4%, to 19.5 million downloads, according to data from the analytical platform Sensor Tower.
According to Tele2 estimates, by the end of 2023, the shares of American dating services Tinder and Badoo decreased to 3 and 4%, respectively. As Sensor Tower clarifies, by the end of the year, Tinder dropped from first to fifth position in terms of downloads, and Badoo, which ceased operations in the Russian Federation in 2022, dropped out of the top 10 most downloaded dating applications in the country.
The outflow of users occurred mainly in favor of Mamba and VK Dating. Since its launch in the summer, “VK Dating” has taken second place in terms of unique users per month and took a share of 26%, Tele2 calculated. In third place was the LovePlanet service with a share of 11%. The audience of the Twinby application, launched in June, by the end of the year amounted to 3% of the total number of users, the Pure application – 1%.
In terms of downloads in the mobile segment of dating applications, “DrugVokrug” is the leader with 3.4 million downloads (17.5%), Sensor Tower found out. In second place was the Mamba service (15%), also in the top 5 were Tabor (13.7%), Voice Chat Roulette (8.3%) and Tinder (7.8%). Spending by Russians in such applications decreased by 33%, to $11.7 million. 48% of the revenue of all dating applications last year came from Tinder, 27% from Pure, 15.4% from Mamba.
According to MTS Big Data, in 2023, mobile Internet traffic in Russian dating services increased by 20% year-on-year, and the number of users increased by 10%.
Let us remind you that in April 2022, Tinder disabled paid options for Russians and stopped accepting payments from Russian cards. On June 30, 2023, the service finally left Russia: the application was removed from Google Play and the App Store.
