The largest wine producer, Kuban-Vino, came into state ownership. The change of owner in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities was registered on April 10. The re-registration took place within the framework of the decision of the Arbitration Court of the Chelyabinsk Region dated April 5 on the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office against the former owners of the Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Plant.
In 2023, Kuban-Vino produced 95.5 million bottles of wine, another 38.9 million bottles were produced by TsPI – Ariant, the enterprise produces several brands, and the total area of Ariant’s agricultural assets exceeds 13.1 thousand hectares.
The following went into state ownership: the largest wine-growing enterprise in Russia – the Yuzhnaya agricultural firm, the wine producer Center for the Food Industry – Ariant, and the Ariant agricultural pig breeding company, reports RBC. These enterprises were part of Ariant Group of Companies LLC, owned by businessman Alexander Aristov, co-owner of ChEMK. The top management of the four legal entities remained the same. Ariant Group of Companies LLC and the companies included in the company challenged the decision of the arbitration court, reports TASS.
In February 2024, the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit against Etalon Company JSC, which owned CHEMK, and two individuals Lyudmila and Yuri Antipov (they were also the owners of the plant) demanding the return of property from “illegal possession.” In March, the Prosecutor General’s Office clarified the claim, demanding that related assets of ChEMK’s co-owners, including the winemaking business, be returned to state ownership. Later, the arbitration courts of the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions satisfied the claims of the supervisory agency.
