The founder of the IT company Group-IB, Ilya Sachkov, who is in jail on charges of treason, told how to return cybersecurity specialists who left Russia. According to him, workers in this sector left Russia because they needed a sense of security.
Ilya Sachkov noted that the main need of IT specialists is self-realization. “Nowhere in the world now can a cybersecurity specialist realize himself the way he can in Russia,” wrote Ilya Sachkov in his Telegram channel. As soon as those who left feel safe, they will return for self-realization, he believes.
He noted the “correct steps” that the state is taking in this direction. However, according to him, this is not enough. “We need to make it clear that they and their loved ones will be safe, and then give them the opportunity to create and create, including new Russian technologies that are so necessary now,” wrote Ilya Sachkov. In this regard, he mentioned the “reverse relocation” initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Development.
On December 20, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, announced that since the beginning of 2022, about 100 thousand IT specialists have left Russia – up to 10% of the total number of employees of Russian IT companies. At the same time, according to him, 80% of those who left continue to work for Russian companies.
On November 11, Maksut Shadayev said that the department is working on a program for the return of IT specialists to the Russian Federation. Then he stressed that in this matter it is important to provide security guarantees to the departed specialists. Maksut Shadayev also spoke against proposals for restrictions on IT professionals who work for Russian companies abroad.
Ilya Sachkov is in jail since September 2021. According to investigators, he transferred materials representing state secrets abroad. He himself does not admit guilt. According to him, the charge is not related to the activities of Group-IB. On December 26, the Lefortovsky District Court extended his arrest until March 28, 2023.
