In the Dutch port of Rotterdam, about 43,000 transit cargoes are blocked, which must be delivered to Russia and Belarus. About this in a conversation with RIA Novosti informed Ambassador to the Netherlands, Permanent Representative of Russia to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Alexander Shulgin.
“According to available information, as of the end of 2022, about 43,000 transit cargoes with destination Russia/Belarus were blocked in the port of Rotterdam,” he said.
Shulgin stressed that the Russian trade mission in the Netherlands organized work to “promote their [грузов] delivery to the final destination”, about a hundred cargoes have already received assistance.
According to Shulgin, the situation with the transportation of goods between countries is difficult. In particular, there is currently no direct air service, there is a ban for trucks with Russian numbers to enter the EU and Russian ships to enter European ports.

The Russian direction accounted for a significant part of the port’s operations: of the approximately 470 million tons of cargo handled annually, 62 million tons (13%) went to Russia. Russian container traffic accounted for about 10% of container traffic through Rotterdam.
