ANO “Institute for the Development of the Internet” (IRI) will allocate additional funds for the development of the game “Trouble”, the events of which unfold in Russia during the Time of Troubles and Polish intervention. Mr. Goreslavsky did not specify the exact amount of the grant. However, according to him, the amount of investment will be comparable to the previous tranche. Thus, the publication notes, in two years the Novosibirsk studio Cyberia Nova, which is developing the Troubles, will receive about half a billion rubles.

The IRI CEO said that Cyberia Nova reported on the use of the tranche allocated last year and showed a demo version of the game. A new contract with the developers, according to Mr. Goreslavsky, will be signed before March 1. The head of Cyberia Nova, Alexey Koptsev, told Vedomosti that by the end of 2023 the company plans to finalize Troubles to the final version at the expense of the announced tranche.

If the Troubles become popular, Aleksey Goreslavsky added, the Islamic Republic of Iran will most likely continue to provide financial support to the project. “I do not rule out that in 2024 we will come to consolidate our success. If the game sells a million copies, people start playing it, then it will be necessary to develop locations, add something new,” he said. According to the director general of the IRI, it would also be logical to expand the universe of the game by making, for example, a mobile version or a series of educational cartoons for schoolchildren.

The source of the publication in the video game market claims that the total investment in Troubles can be about 1 billion rubles. Aleksey Goreslavsky explained that this amount can be used to estimate the total budget of the project, including not only the development funded by IRI, but also distribution.

According to the plot of The Troubles, the Russian prince Yuri Miloslavsky, together with Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, will launch a war against the Polish invaders. In May 2022 IRI singled out Cyberia Limited RUB 260 million to develop the game by 2024. In total, since 2021, the institute has supported five game projects.

In February 2023, the government plans to prepare a federal project as part of the Digital Economy national program to support Russian video game developers.
