The network of fast food restaurants “Vkusno – i dot” may appear in Abkhazia in 2023, the franchise has already been acquired, informed in a conversation with TASS, Oleg Bartsits, trade representative of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation, without specifying who the buyer was.
“I cannot yet name the company that acquired the franchise, because I do not have the consent of the acquirers, but this information is confirmed. “Tasty – and that’s it” may appear in Abkhazia, this is 2023, as far as I know,” he said.
Bartsits clarified that the issue, which had previously prevented the opening of “Tasty – and that’s it” in Abkhazia, was removed. According to him, the removal of the barrier “which existed due to the policies and opinions of Western owners of these brands” will lead to the fact that stores of other Russian brands will be able to open in Abkhazia.
The day before, on December 12, Oleg Paroev, CEO of the Vkusno – i Tochka network informedthat the company is exploring the possibility of opening restaurants in Abkhazia, but the legal conflict and problems with logistics make this process difficult. According to him, according to the agreement with McDonald’s, the company cannot open its restaurants in countries where its predecessor is located. McDonald’s is present in Georgia. Russia recognizes Abkhazia as an independent country, but the US, where the company is based, does not. The United States believes that Abkhazia is part of Georgia,” he explained.
McDonald’s has closed its restaurants in Russia since March 14, and on May 16 the company announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. In mid-May, the fast food chain announced the sale of 718 restaurants in Russia to local licensee Alexander Govor. The company reserved the option to buy the business back within 15 years.
