Takeda has not confirmed the sale of the plant in Yaroslavl

Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda has not confirmed the sale of its plant in Yaroslavl. About it informed TASS source.

“The company does not confirm the sale of its plant in Russia,” the source said.

Previously, Kommersant, citing sources toldthat Takeda is going to sell its only Russian plant, and that a number of companies have already been interested in its cost. At the same time, according to the interlocutors of the newspaper, there has not yet been a start of negotiations on the sale of the enterprise. Takeda itself then emphasized that the sale of the asset was a “market rumor”.

Takeda Pharmaceutical began production in Yaroslavl in 2013. The company manufactures Ninlaro for the treatment of multiple myeloma (blood disease), Adveit for the treatment of people with hemophilia A, and Adcetris for patients with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The Japanese pharmaceutical company began investing in the Russian market in 2010. According to Takeda itself, it has invested 117.43 million euros throughout its work in the Russian Federation. According to SPARK, in 2021, the revenue of the Russian legal entity of the company, Takeda Pharmaceutical, amounted to 21.9 billion rubles, an increase of 22% compared to 2020.

Against the background of the start of the military operation in Ukraine, a number of foreign companies began to leave the Russian market, including some companies for the production and supply of medicines. In May 2022, the Dutch distributor IMCD, which imports substances for the production of medicines, announced its withdrawal from Russia and the closure of offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg. At the same time, the American distributor Azelis warned customers about the reduction in supplies, and before that, the British chemical manufacturer Croda and the German chemical concern BASF.
