SAP CIS CEO Andrey Filatov and the rest of the division’s top management will not buy out the Russian business of the German software developer SAP. This is reported TAdviser with reference to a knowledgeable source close to SAP in the CIS.
According to the publication, the top management of the CIS expected to buy, together with the Russian business, already concluded contracts with clients. However, everything indicates that the number of contracts will be significantly reduced by January 2023, so the redemption of the business loses its meaning, the interlocutor of TAdviser said.
According to the source, customers are increasingly refusing the concluded contracts for vendor support, as it will be cut from January 2023. The eighth package of EU sanctions from January next year prohibits European companies from providing Russians with services related to IT consulting. SAP Russian customers will be deprived of access to the system through which technical support is provided, the publication reports.
It is noted that SAP will create a special portal for customers from Russia, through which they will be able to update the software. Most services for Russians will still be cut, making contracts uneconomical, the source said.
At the same time, TAdviser reports, in view of the formed situation Andrey Filatov plans to leave a post of the CEO of SAP CIS. But, the source added, the company still does not want to let him go due to difficulties in finding a replacement.
In June became knownthat SAP plans to completely leave the Russian market by the end of the year. In October Reuters reported about difficulties in finding a buyer for Russian SAP assets.
SAP supplies process management systems, such as logistics or production. The company has about 1.5 thousand clients in Russia. Among the former clients of SAP are Gazprom, Sberbank and Norilsk Nickel. The manufacturer stopped providing services to them after the imposition of sanctions against these companies.
