Malinin’s concert may be canceled in Saratov due to complaints from Northern Military District veterans and deputies

In Saratov, the concert of People’s Artist of the Russian Federation and Ukraine Alexander Malinin, scheduled for early February, may be cancelled. Recently, publications appeared in the local press saying that there are people in the city who are dissatisfied with the singer because of his silence regarding the SVO.

At the end of January, the Saratov press wrote that two SVO veterans spoke out against Malinin’s concert. So, “Region 64” reportedthat combatant Dmitry Lygin called for organizing concerts of patriotic artists in the city instead of performers “noted in pro-Ukrainian sentiments.” Fighter Oleg Mysov suggested that Malinin publicly apologize for the fact that in the past he performed the Ukrainian folk song “Chervona Kalina”, and also renounce the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.

Deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma Roman Gribov, in turn, told MK that the singer must fulfill a number of conditions in order to continue performing in Russia.

“If he is for Russia, let him express his position on the SVO,” the deputy cited the first demand.

Gribov agrees with the Saratov veterans that the singer should publicly apologize for performing the song “Chervona Kalina” in the past and refuse the Ukrainian honorary title received in 2004.

“(Let him) support the holding of the SVO, take part in humanitarian actions,” the deputy added.
