Sugar production in Russia increased by 2.5 times

It is clarified that 4 sugar factories started work during the year. Thus, 13 enterprises in the Southern and North Caucasian federal districts are currently processing sugar beets. It is expected that by August 12, two more plants in the Krasnodar Territory will start producing sugar.

According to Rosstat, as of August 9, according to the results of July, the cost of sugar grew by 4.4% in annual terms. August 8 at the Ministry of Industry and Trade reportedthat retail chains in the regions of Russia will begin to limit prices for socially significant goods – for dairy products, bakery products, sugar and seasonal vegetables. The ministry explained that the increase in production and the use of duty-free imports of raw sugar maintain a stable price situation in the aforementioned market. But if necessary, the Ministry of Agriculture “may consider various options for regulating the food market, including the conclusion of price agreements based on the experience of 2020-2021,” they emphasized.
