The State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) wants to sell 37 Boeing and Airbus liners “standing on concrete” belonging to its foreign subsidiaries. About it in an interview Vedomosti told the CEO of GTLK Europe (foreign structure of STLC) Roman Lyadov.
According to the STLC representative, most of the blocked aircraft are Boeing 777 and 737, there are also Airbus 321, 320 and 319. According to Mr. Lyadov, four liners are under financial leasing (with the right to buy from the airline), the rest have operating lease agreements . He added that 90%, or 33 blocked aircraft, “are physically located in Europe.”
Sale negotiations are underway with three leasing companies. With what exactly, Roman Lyadov did not say. The deal may take several months, its amount is not called. “We are considering several scenarios, including this one,” said the head of GTLK Europe, but did not name other possible scenarios.
On February 25, the European Union (EU) announced a ban on the sale, transfer, supply or export of aircraft and any components to Russia. STLC structures came under EU sanctions in April 2022. In August of the same year, blocking sanctions against foreign structures of STLC were introduced by the United States.
