Steven Spielberg wins the Golden Bear at the Berlinale

Steven Spielberg has been nominated for an Oscar 19 times and received a statuette three times. In 1998, he received the German Meritorious Service Award for the Shoah Foundation he founded and for the film Schindler’s List. In 2001, Queen Elizabeth II honored the director with the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In 2015, Mr. Spielberg received the Medal of Freedom from then US President Barack Obama.
The Golden Bear is the main award of the Berlin International Film Festival, which has been held since 1951. The 73rd Berlinale will take place in the German capital from 16 to 26 February.
