In Sochaux (Doubs), where Peugeot set up more than a hundred and ten years ago, the manufacturer is now trying the “small is beautiful”. Over the decades, the manufacturer has accumulated buildings and factories there on dozens of hectares. In 1975, more than 40,000 people worked on the site. They are 6,000 today, including 1,000 temporary workers. “At the time of Jacques Calvet – the boss of PSA from 1984 to 1997 -, it was well seen to show that we had room, that we could multiply the workshops”says a former executive of the group.
