Stanford University yesterday, September 19, announced its intention to return everything that the university received from the bankrupt crypto exchange FTX. About it write American media citing an emailed statement from the university. The university said it received donations from the FTX Foundation and related companies, mainly for “research related to the understanding and prevention of pandemics.”
The university’s decision was announced after FTX yesterday filed in court against the parents of the founder of the crypto exchange Sam Bankman-Fried – Stanford University professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried. The lawsuit states that they knew about their son’s fraud with client funds of the exchange and used it for personal enrichment. It also reports that Stanford University received $5.5 million from the company.
Lawyers for the parents of Messrs. Bankman and Fried said the allegations against them were “totally false.” Sam Bankman-Fried himself is accused of deceiving investors, financial fraud, criminal conspiracy, etc. He is under arrest and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3.
