The St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (SPIMEX) has changed the criteria for identifying unfair trading, including the use of trading robots. A sign of a violation was multiple submissions of applications within a second or less.
“Taking into account the discussion held on January 31 at the Exchange Committee of the FAS Russia… the criterion for conducting daily monitoring (control) during the trading session was changed in order to identify unfair trading practices,” it says message trading platform.
Trading restrictions can also be introduced for indicating in an application a price that increases the current market price to the level of the limit values established by the exchange. The violations also included the conclusion of contracts for one exchange instrument, the volume of which exceeds 300 tons and constitutes more than 35% of the total sales volume in one trading session.
The detection of any of these signs during the trading day will be considered a violation. As a restriction, admission to trading will be suspended for at least ten days.
January 29, representatives of private gas stations wrote letter to the management of the Ministry of Energy, FAS and SPbMTSB. In it, they complained about the growing number of unfair practices in fuel exchange trading. As an example, they cited a case in January 2024, when a network of gas stations providing emergency services was unable to purchase gasoline at some bases in Central Russia.
