But now everything has returned to normal, there were television broadcasts, a star track, which has become the main barometer of changes taking place in the world. Stars of the first magnitude are no longer in a hurry to get under the sights of movie cameras, they come closer to the point, directly to the award. Here, the years of the pandemic also played a role, changing a lot in the cinema world.

Steven Spielberg’s Fabelman won the Best Drama Film award. He himself was also awarded the award for best director in a drama. Fabelmans is a big movie that runs for two and a half hours. A year ago, he won a Golden Globe for West Side Story for Best Comedy or Musical. At the end of 2022, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awarded a similar award to Martin McDonagh’s Banshee of Inisherin. Also noted are his screenplay and acting work by Colin Farrell. Martin McDonough (McDonagh, as we often call him) is a well-known theater director and playwright whose plays are popular in Russia, like his films – “Lie Under in Bruges” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”.

The action of his new picture, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, takes place in 1923 on an Irish island remote from the big world. This is how the director himself grew up. Everything takes place on a small patch – in the hero’s house, where he lives in the same room with his sister and a donkey, in a pub – the meeting place of the whole village, on the shores of the harsh sea. Somewhere there is a civil war, people are dying, and on the island only flashes in the sky remind of it. Although the heroes have their own battle. The two friends suddenly stop talking even though nothing happened. It’s just that one of them (his role was played by the magnificent Brendan Gleeson and no worse than Colin Farrell) for reasons unknown to us stopped communicating with a friend, and he cannot accept this, forcing his former comrade to chop off finger after finger. Farrell is noted as the best actor in the comedy genre, although “Banshee Inisherina” is difficult to classify as funny.

Austin Butler won Best Actor in a Drama for his role as Elvis Presley in the Elvis biopic. And here a lot of work has been done to achieve similarity with the idol of many generations. Cate Blanchett won the corresponding category for Best Actress in Todd Field’s Tar, which has already brought her the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival. She played the conductor of Berlinsky, and now the musicians who have seen the picture laugh at how she fulfills her professional duties, but this is inevitable. Cate Blanchett also voiced the role of the monkey Spazzatura in the animated film Pinocchio Guillermo del Toro, the latest adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s fairy tale set in 1930s Fascist Italy.

Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in “Everything Everywhere”. She is well known to the audience for the films Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tomorrow Never Dies, Memoirs of a Geisha. Her heroine gains access to new versions of herself in an alternate reality. She can live thousands of other lives. Ke Huy Kuan also won the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in the film, which also received Oscar and BAFTA nominations.

Eddie Murphy, 61, received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Excellence in Cinematography. He already has a Golden Globe for his supporting role in Dreamgirls, which he was awarded in 2007. He has been nominated a total of five times.
