Sparkling Wines sold the Rosinka champagne and cognac plant in Togliatti

Owning the brand of sparkling wines “Lev Golitsyn”, the former producer of whiskey Bell’s and White Horse, the company “Igristi wines” sold the Togliatti plant of sparkling wines and cognacs “Rosinka”. The plant could come under the control of the co-owners of the Taman Wine Company – Kuban, who plan to use the site for the production of cognacs based on alcohols from Uzbekistan.

A major wine producer CJSC Sparkling Wines (brand Lev Golitsyn) sold shares in CJSC Plant of Champagne Wines and Cognacs Rosinka (KShVK Rosinka) in Tolyatti, discovered Kommersant in the statements of Igristi wines for 2022 . The name of the buyer is not disclosed in the document, but it is noted that the shares of KShVK Rosinka were sold “due to the lack of expected economic benefits.” Details of the transaction in “Sparkling Wines” refused to report.

As follows from the data of the Federal Accreditation Service, in May 2023, Rosinka KShVK received a declaration for the production of cognacs under the brands Bursamdzeli, Golden Oak, Historical, Solnechny Brig. Cognac under the Bursamdzeli brand was sold at the Perekrestok online store for 517 rubles. for a bottle of 0.5 liters. The manufacturer of the drink is the Taman Wine Company – Kuban (TVK-Kuban). Contacts of “TVK-Kuban” are also listed in the profile of KShVK “Rosinka” on HeadHunter. The fact that KShVK Rosinka came under the control of the owners of TVK-Kuban was also heard by a Kommersant source on the market.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, in January 2023, the co-owners of TVK-Kuban Vasily Shishkov and Yuri Gonchar also received shares in the trading companies Vega and Verona, registered at Rosinka KShVK. Previously, the main owner of “Vega” and “Verona” was the head of the board of directors of “Sparkling Wines” Dinu Dragan. TVK-Kuban did not answer Kommersant’s questions.

Vasily Shishkov, according to SPARK, was previously a co-owner of APG Ladoga-Invest LLC, which was engaged in the alcohol business in Crimea, including Fotisal Wine House LLC. The latter is now owned by Nikolai Safronov’s Glavkrymvino LLC, follows from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. In addition, Vasily Shishkov was mentioned in the media and on the website of the President of South Ossetia as one of the co-owners of the local winery “Ironsan”.

The latest reporting of KShVK Rosinka for 2020 reports the production of more than 118 thousand deciliters of sparkling wines and about 7.8 thousand deciliters of cognac. Apparently, the plant is not operating at full capacity. In 2011, KShVK “Rosinka” produced 513 thousand deciliters of sparkling wines and more than 43 thousand deciliters of cognacs (see “Kommersant” dated October 25, 2012).

As follows from the register of the Federal Accreditation Service, cognacs at the Rosinka KShVK are planned to be produced from distillates purchased in Uzbekistan. Alexander Stavtsev, head of the WineRetail information center, says that inexpensive cognac spirits can be purchased in the republic, and the demand for brandy in Russia has been growing in recent years. According to Rosalkogolregulirovanie, in January-April 2023, 4.28 million decalitres of cognacs were sold in retail, which is approximately 9.2% more year-on-year. But the director of TSIFRRA, Vadim Drobiz, does not expect a noticeable increase in the consumption of cognac and brandy in Russia. In addition, he adds, the category is distinguished by high competition, including from producers from neighboring countries and cognacs under the networks’ own brands.

Sparkling Wines reports say that the company plans to strengthen its presence in the whiskey category by launching at least one new brand in 2023, as well as continue to produce Lev Golitsyn wine. Sparkling Wines previously produced whiskey under the Bell’s and White Horse brands under a contract with Diageo, which left Russia in 2022. Now, according to the report, the equipment is used to produce whiskey from raw materials from other suppliers.
