Pauls responded to Vaikule’s accusations
Soviet and Latvian composer, pianist and People’s Artist of the USSR Raymond Pauls was outraged by the words of singer Laima Vaikule, who stated that all his music was “written off” from Western hits. He commented on the situation to the publication aif.ru.
According to Pauls, Vaikule’s words are “some kind of nonsense.” He noted that recently the singer “talks nonsense all the time” and her new statements cannot be taken seriously. He was also indignant at Vaikule’s ingratitude, which took place thanks to dozens of his hits.
“I don’t take her seriously at all. So let her say what she wants,” said Raymond Pauls.
Earlier in her interview, Laima Vaikule stated that after the collapse of the USSR there was a choice, and 99.9% decided to “go to the West.” She stated that the best music was there and the artists loved “everything that was Western.”
