Director Bogomolov spoke about the “liberal regional committee” criticizing his new play

Director Konstantin Bogomolov said that his new play and the actors participating in it were subject to very aggressive criticism from a number of Russians, including those who left the country. He called these people the “liberal regional committee.” In a conversation with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, he reportedthat on social networks “a certain group of people” “unleashed real persecution of those involved in the project,” accusing them of “selling out” to the Russian state.

According to Bogomolov, the only thing that irritates critics is “that people work” and create a performance “with public money and at the Russia exhibition.”

“I already wrote a text about this on RIA Novosti,” Bogomolov noted, “it is difficult, when you have left the country, to come to terms with the fact that life in the country is moving on and developing.”

The creator of the play emphasized that his actors work for the “joy of creating,” and also “for their audience, in their home.” He also stated that the state grant made it possible to create the performance, but does not imply large incomes, so everyone works, “to be honest, for pennies.”

“For me, this project is also a kind of social burden,” said Bogomolov.
