President Vladimir Putin signed law, which extends the status of social enterprises for small bookstores. The law was adopted in the summer of 2021 and was valid until the end of 2022. Now the measure has been extended until the end of 2024.
The law applies to stores that are small and medium-sized businesses and that sell books for children and youth, educational, educational and reference literature. State authorities and local governments can provide SMEs in the field of social entrepreneurship with financial, guarantee, property, information, and consulting support.
The State Duma previously explained that there were no benefits for large chains. At the same time, as Elena Yampolskaya, chairman of the committee on culture, said, after the adoption of the law, at least 80% of bookstores will be able to claim benefits from local authorities.
