One of the largest oil companies, SLB, has made changes to its operations and structure in order to maintain business in Russia. Among other things, the company introduced additional control measures for the supply of equipment to Russia from the European Union, Great Britain and the United States. This was reported Reuters with reference to two sources and documents.
According to the agency, SLB banned Russian employees from accessing certain software and messaging systems. The company also seeks to limit a number of other operations for the Russian division.
An SLB spokesman confirmed in a conversation with Reuters the introduction of new restrictions. According to him, the company has established additional control measures that limit the supply to Russia of equipment manufactured in the EU, the UK and the US.
According to one of the sources of the agency, the new measures ensure that the SLB complies with the sanctions regime against Russia.
By the end of 2022, there were 10 thousand employees in Russia, since then by May their number has decreased to 9.6 thousand people. According to Reuters, to date, Russia’s share of SLB’s revenue has fallen from 6% to 5%.
SLB did not leave Russia after the start of the military operation in Ukraine and the appeals of activists. In January, Reuters reported that the company increased its presence in Russia after it took away the contracts of competitors who left the country.
