American oilfield services company SLB (formerly Schlumberger) invested NOK 4.1 billion ($382 million) to the Norwegian company Aker Carbon Capture (ACC), which is developing technologies for capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (carbon capture). Under the terms of the deal, a joint venture will be created, 80% of the shares of which will be owned by Schlumberger, 20% by ACC shareholders. It is expected that over the next three years, depending on the company’s results, Schlumberger may invest an additional $120 million in the joint venture. The deal should be closed in the second quarter.
