Skillbox will buy out 10% of the network of drawing schools Grafika

The Skillbox educational platform (part of VK) intends to buy 10% in the Grafika network of drawing schools by the end of 2022. This was reported to Vedomosti in the press service of Skillbox. The company did not disclose the amount of the transaction, but specified that a joint venture would be created as a result of the deal.
The press service noted that Skillbox, together with Grafika, want to scale offline business in the regions. Thus, by the end of 2024, more than 70 Skillbox schools of modern professions and skills, as well as 100 offline Grafika schools, will open in the cities of Russia and the CIS countries.
“First of all, companies will focus on IT professions, including programming and design. By the end of 2023, digital specialties (marketing and management) will be added to the product line,” the press service explained.
Skillbox clarified that the spaces will be franchised. To become a franchisee, an entrepreneur needs to fill out a questionnaire on the website of the educational platform, as well as undergo training and four stages of selection.
Andrey Lomtev, co-founder and CEO of the network of drawing schools, will be responsible for the offline direction of the joint venture between Skillbox and Grafika. Sergey Popkov, co-founder and program director of Skillbox, will be the curator of the business area for the development of offline spaces.
Now there are six Skillbox schools in the regions – in Krasnodar, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Voronezh and Krasnoyarsk. As of the end of November, the turnover of Skillbox offline spaces amounted to more than 55 million rubles. The Grafika network has 56 drawing schools in 54 cities of Russia, as well as in the USA, Kazakhstan and Belarus. In November, the company’s turnover exceeded 50 million rubles.
