Banks of Kazakhstan received permission from the United States for transactions with Mir cards

Kazakhstani banks have received permission from the US Office for Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to operate with payment cards of the Russian Mir system. About it reported Agency for regulation of the financial market of Kazakhstan.
In a letter from the US Treasury sent to regulators in Kazakhstan, it was reported that the agency allows the use of the Mir card by individuals, including those who came from Russia. However, transactions with this payment system remain “under special control”. So the Ministry of Finance intends to stop its use to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia.
