In the first nine days of last year, Belarus supplied 6.3 million chicken eggs to Russia, the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
“Belarus is a stable supplier of edible eggs to Russia. According to FSIS “Argus”, over the past four years, an average of more than 630 million pieces of food-grade eggs per year have entered the Russian market,” said Rosselkhoznadzor (quoted from TASS). In 2023, more than 510.8 million chicken eggs were imported from Belarus to Russia.
In December last year, eggs became one of the most expensive products in Russia – their price rose by 10–20% in 46 regions of the country. President Vladimir Putin explainedthat the demand for eggs exceeded supply, and imports were not opened on time in the required volume.
