Sherlock Holmes director Igor Maslennikov dies

People’s Artist of the RSFSR, director of the films “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson” Igor Maslennikov died at the age of 91. The Union of Cinematographers of Russia announced his death.

“Igor Maslennikov died, his daughter called us in the morning,” a representative of the organization told RIA Novosti. According to him, the funeral is organized by the Union of Cinematographers of St. Petersburg.

Igor Maslennikov also wrote scripts. He was the author of the script for several series from the Sherlock Holmes film series: The Hound of the Baskervilles (together with Yuri Veksler), Treasures of Agra and The 20th Century Begins.

In addition to the series of films about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Igor Maslennikov made such films as Winter Cherry, Sentimental Romance, and The Queen of Spades. The director was the president of the St. Petersburg film studio “Trinity Bridge”.
