Shawarma producers warn of a 10-15% increase in prices since September

If the classic shawarma cost us 190 rubles, now it will cost 210 rubles,” she clarified.

In “Mosshawarma” they also allowed an increase in cost by 10-15% “and even more.” “The price will also depend on other ingredients used in the final product, because you can buy shawarma for 170 rubles, or you can buy it for 300,” the company said.

The wholesale service for the production of shawarma “Roslavash” (supplies to Pyaterochka, regional catering outlets and gas stations) said that since the beginning of the year, shawarma has already risen in price by 25%. “We do not rule out a new increase… For the time being, we forecast a price increase of 5%,” said Kamil Vaziev, a company representative. He also conceded that manufacturers would reduce the portion size.

The Ministry of Agriculture assures that the rise in prices for poultry meat is seasonal, and the dynamics is due to the development of domestic tourism, which increases the demand for these products, as well as an increase in production costs. The press service of the ministry claims that prices are expected to drop in the market in September. According to Rosstat, by July, the average consumer prices of chilled and frozen chickens increased by 11.5%, and only in July – by 6.99% (up to 197.85 rubles per 1 kg). Since the beginning of the year, chicken legs have risen in price by 4.7%, in July – by 2.4% (227.8 rubles).

In August, Russian restaurateurs complained to a significant increase in prices for chicken and pork. As the Ombudsman for the restaurant market in Moscow, Sergei Mironov, reported, the increase in prices for chicken and pork from suppliers of Russian restaurants from the beginning of March to the end of July amounted to 20-30%. The Federal Antimonopoly Service will check the prices of the three largest poultry meat producers (the names of the companies were not specified).
