Shares of “Yandex” grew by 12% after the news about the possible purchase of the company by Potanin and Alekperov

Shares of the company “Yandex” grew by Mosbirzhe by 12.4% (up to 2285.4 rubles) after the material Bloomberg about the proposal of billionaires Vladimir Potanin and Vagit Alekperov to buy out a controlling stake (Russian assets of Yandex are estimated at about $7 billion).

Growth at the level of 12% was recorded at about 14:30. As of 15:19, growth has slowed down a bit – to 2229 rubles. (9.65%).

According to Bloomberg, the head of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin, and the head of Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, expect to receive at least 51% of Yandex shares. According to the agency, Vladimir Potanin is backed by a group of investors, which includes Roman Abramovich and representatives of VTB – they may be joined by Severgroup CEO Alexei Mordashov.

According to the agency’s sources, the value of the shares was determined taking into account the order of the Russian authorities: according to it, “unfriendly” investors must provide at least a 50% discount when selling Russian assets.

At the end of November 2022, Yandex announced changes in the corporate structure: the company planned to leave only part of the group’s business (international projects in the field of cloud technologies) behind the head structure of Yandex NV, and give the rest of the services (search, advertising) to a new group of companies. The main shareholder of Yandex is the trust of the company’s co-founder Arkady Volozh LASTAR Trust, which owns 8.5% of Yandex’s capital and 45.1% of votes.
