In Russia, several types of drones may be included in the experimental legal regime (EPR), allowing their operation in the regions, informed Vasily Shpak, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport, in an interview with TASS.
“It is quite possible that drones designed for monitoring linear objects and, for example, taxation will be included in the experimental legal regime,” he said.
We are talking about drones of oil and gas companies that monitor local and main pipelines to prevent accidents, as well as UAVs used to detect forest fires, the official explained.
How wrote Earlier, Kommersant and the Ministry of Economics proposed withdrawing agricultural drones from the flight ban by introducing an experimental legal regime for this in 12 regions of the Russian Federation. Other (non-border) entities can also join the regime.
Most of the regions introduced a ban on the use of drones in October 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing different levels of response in the subjects – from the level of basic readiness to martial law. An exception was made for public authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Several other entities imposed a similar ban amid a drone attack by the Kremlin from Ukraine in early May. In particular, restrictions began to operate in Moscow and the Moscow region.
