Several banks in Vietnam already accept payment cards of the Russian Mir system. Nikolai Nozdrev, director of the third Asian department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced this.
“A number of banks in Vietnam accept Mir cards. This, however, is a rather limited network of ATMs, but it allows our tourists to use the appropriate terminals to receive cash,” Mr. Nozdrev said in an interview. RTVI.
He added that work on expanding the use of Mir cards in different countries continues. In particular, in Thailand, cards are accepted in one of “the very large supermarket chains.” The long-term goal is the use of the Russian payment system in the countries of Southeast Asia.
Mir cards are accepted in Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Korea, South Ossetia and Cuba. Indonesia, Myanmar, Egypt, Thailand, India, Mauritius, Nigeria and Ethiopia expressed their interest in using Mir cards.
