“To date “AvtoVAZ“has the necessary engineering potential and production capacity to ensure the supply of cars within the framework of the state order for the apparatus of officials in the required volumes,” the company said.
The Moskvich plant will also be able to meet the demand for cars if such an order comes from the public sector, reported TASS in the press service of the automaker.
Earlier today, during a meeting with heads of manufacturing enterprises, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat all Russian officials must drive domestically produced cars. “Somewhere it will be more modest than before – it’s okay, on the contrary, it’s even good,” he said. Russia does not need to refuse imports, the head of state added.
During the meeting, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov offered Putin to test the new model Lada Iskra. According to him, the car is conceived as “massive, one of the most budgetary.” It is planned to launch its production in 2024.
After the president’s statement, the head of Roskomnadzor Andrey Lipov informedthat is ready to transfer to a domestic car. In June, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov also confirmed readiness of the department to buy Russian cars. During SPIEF he tested the Lada Aura and said that the new AvtoVAZ model could replace foreign brands used by officials.
Position of the Ministry of Finance supported Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, proposing to transfer to the domestic auto industry to all budgetary institutions and authorities. He noted that the State Duma will also make such a decision.
