Serial production of the MS-21 will not begin in 2024, as previously expected, said the head of Rostec (which unites aviation industry enterprises) Sergei Chemezov. He said it was “most likely” that the release would be pushed back to 2025 or “maybe even 2026.”
“No, until the end (2024.— “Ъ”) there won’t be a year,” Mr. Chemezov answered a corresponding question from journalists on the sidelines of the annual address of the President of the Russian Federation to the Federal Assembly (quote from “Interfax”). “As soon as we complete the tests, we will immediately see the results… We are still worried about the safety of all of us – we will be flying on these planes,” he added.
The head of Rostec at the end of 2023 meeting I spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin that 18 MS-21 aircraft are in various stages of readiness. He then predicted that the manufacturer would “serially produce” and transfer six aircraft to Aeroflot in 2024. By 2029, Rostec plans to produce 72 aircraft per year.
