Broker VTB named the leading regions by the number of new investors – Kommersant

Leaders in the number of new clients of the VTB broker (MOEX: VTBR) over the past three years have become the Central Federal District, the Volga region and Siberia. At the same time, in percentage terms, the largest increases were shown by the North Caucasus Federal District (+274%), Southern Federal District (+218%) and the Volga Region (+216%). The results of the study were published as part of the VTB Strategic Week.
According to VTB data provided to Kommersant, over three years the number of broker clients in the Central Federal District increased by more than 848 thousand people, in the Volga region – by almost 360 thousand, in Siberia – by almost 247 thousand. Leading cities in the Central Federal District became Moscow, Voronezh, Belgorod, Yaroslavl and Ryazan. The main increase in the broker’s clients in the Volga region was achieved due to Kazan, Perm, Samara, Ufa and Nizhny Novgorod, in Siberia – due to Novosibirsk, Omsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk and Barnaul.
VTB also compiled a portrait of investors: about 63% in the leading regions are occupied by men under 40, women invest more actively between the ages of 40 and 60. VTB broker experts note that almost half of the clients’ portfolio in the leading districts consists of shares. The most popular securities chosen by investors were shares of Gazprom, LUKOIL, VTB, Sberbank, Rosneft, as well as shares of the Liquidity money market exchange-traded fund.
The head of the VTB brokerage services department, Andrey Yatskov, noted that regionalization has an important place in the bank’s strategy for 2024-2026. According to him, in the near future VTB plans to expand the presence of investment consultants in the regions so that clients can communicate with them personally without leaving their cities. “I am confident that this will make the investment process even more comfortable and will contribute to the growth of new broker clients throughout the country,” he concluded.
