“The external situation has changed”
Singer Sergey Lazarev has long been known on the Russian stage for his performance of songs in English. However, later the artist began to sing in Russian, which he has a completely logical explanation for.
In a conversation with the portal Prozvezd.info Lazarev explained that at the beginning of his career, his “trick” was to sing songs in English, he himself liked it, and he “instilled a taste” in many. Nevertheless, in the future, the artist decided to switch to Russian, since “the external situation has changed.”
Lazarev admits that he realized that for the Russian audience the songs he performed in English were foreign. According to the artist, he was not understood, and he felt it, and after switching to Russian, contact with the audience immediately became closer.
As the singer noted, for twenty years it is not easy to keep the interest of the public, but he does not allow himself to relax even on vacation, all the time thinking about work. According to Lazarev, artists often appear in Russia for a year or two, and then disappear abruptly. The performer explains this by the fact that they relax and believe that this will always be the case, but many paid the price for “lifting their nose high”. Lazarev concluded that after three years no one even remembers many artists.
