Sergei Zhukov lost the lawsuit for the rights to the songs “Hands Up” – Kommersant

The Moscow City Court rejected the appeal of singer Sergei Zhukov against the decision of the Simonovsky Court to refuse to consider the claim for the transfer of rights to the songs of the group “Hands Up”. The artist demanded that the rights to the phonograms of the compositions “Well, where are you, girls?”, “I won’t give you to anyone”, “Don’t sit at home” and others be returned to him.

“By refusing to satisfy the stated demands of the plaintiffs, the court proceeded, among other things, from the fact that the plaintiffs knew about the legal relations that had developed between the parties, but did not take any action to challenge them for 20 years,” the press service of the Moscow courts reported in Telegram channel.

The material indicates that the Simonovsky Court considered the case in April 2023. According to the case materials, the creation of the controversial phonograms in 1998 was initiated and financed by producer Andrei Malikov. Sergei Zhukov acted as author and performer. Later, Andrey Malikov Technical and Production Center LLC and Jem Publishing House LLC entered into agreements on the transfer of rights to the phonograms of songs by the group “Hands Up” – the plaintiffs asked to declare them invalid.
