Lukyanenko also explained why Russia cannot “import substitute” popular Western literary characters.
“For those who write our heroes, who could become more popular than Harry Potter, the path to publishing is closed,” the writer explained, explaining what is happening with the desire of publishers to earn income, and not to discover new names. But even for established authors, the situation is a stalemate, since they are forced to create intensively in order to support themselves.
“Don’t be surprised, but some people write more than one book a month, which leads to a loss of quality. And it can lead to the devaluation of the reader, who is fed “fast literature”, and he begins to think accordingly,” says Lukyanenko.
He advised young authors to publish on the Internet, suggesting that the state create a portal of high-quality children’s and teenage literature.
