The claims made by the social networks Facebook, Instagram (both social networks belong to Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) and Twitter by the Russian authorities remain, there are no grounds to unblock them in Russia. This was announced by the head of the commission of the Federation Council on information policy and interaction with the media, Alexei Pushkov.

The day before he saidthat in Telegram, unlike Facebook and Twitter, there is no conscious activity to disseminate information hostile to Russia. According to him, foreign social networks intentionally violated Russian law and did not remove illegal content.
Meta Platforms Inc. was recognized as extremist in Russia on March 21, 2022. The decision came after the company allowed Ukrainian users to leave destructive comments about the Russian military, including death calls.
