Sellers of biologically active food additives (BAA) sent appeals to the head of Rospotrebnadzor in Moscow, Elena Andreeva, and the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, with a request not to prohibit the sale of their products on the Wildberries marketplace, informs Interfax with reference to documents.

The department of Rospotrebnadzor of Moscow was asked to block the cards of goods of some sellers, and Wildberries itself to exclude the section “Vitamins and dietary supplements” on the site. The case is pending in the Ostankinsky District Court of Moscow.

Dietary supplement traders are convinced that the requirement to block the section on Wildberries can lead to “limiting the competitive environment in online commerce and reducing sales.” As a result, the authors of the appeal believe that this will lead to the fact that pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of dietary supplements will suffer losses and prices for their products will increase.

However, the authors of the appeal noted that blocking the cards of some sellers is the right measure, since the sale of dietary supplements without proper documents that comply with the law is unacceptable.

Therefore, merchants believe that the most correct option would be to limit specific product offerings from unscrupulous sellers, while a complete blocking of the section on Wildberries could create a “dangerous precedent” for restricting the population’s access to socially significant goods.

At the moment, Wildberries has about 57,000 items in the Vitamins and Dietary Supplements category and 3,000 sellers. Among the companies that wrote appeals are: Pharm Legend (Moscow), Organic Pharm (St. Petersburg), AMA-Trade (Smolensk), PharmGroup, Simple Solutions, Nature of Life (Altai Territory), etc.

In July, it became known that Russians only pharmacies (excluding marketplaces) in St. Petersburg spent for dietary supplements in January-June 2 billion 289 million rubles. against 1 billion 764 million rubles. for the same period in 2021. Industry representatives said that several factors influenced the significant increase in sales in monetary terms: rising production costs, high demand after the start of the CBO, as well as the transition of consumers to a more expensive segment.
