Sberbank is testing the possibility of paying for purchases without a PIN code for more than 1,000 rubles. from the beginning of 2023. The increase in the limit will affect purchases through the acquiring network of banks. This was reported in the press service of Sberbank.

“Since the beginning of 2023, Sber has been testing the possibility of increasing the purchase amount without a PIN code over 1,000 rubles in its network of acquiring terminals using cards from Sberbank and other banks,” the bank said in a statement (quoted from “RIA News”).

According to RBC, in Moscow, Sberbank terminals do not require customers to enter a pin code when buying more than 2 thousand rubles, when buying from 3 thousand rubles. the pin code is still required. Sberbank did not answer the question of the publication about the size of the new limit.

In 2020, Visa and Mastercard payment systems recommended increasing the payment limit without a PIN code to 3,000 and 5,000 rubles. respectively. Russian banks did not apply these recommendations.
