Fraudsters send out phishing emails asking them to visit military registration and enlistment offices to clarify personal data. The mailing contains a malicious file. This was reported to Kommersant by the press service of Sberbank.
“We recorded a targeted phishing attack on Sberbank. This attack was successfully repelled, like all the previous ones, ”the press service of the bank’s deputy chairman of the board, Stanislav Kuznetsov, quotes. He noted that military registration and enlistment offices do not send summonses by e-mail.
The e-mails contained a malicious file encrypted in a mobilization order, opening which could pose a risk of infecting the entire IT infrastructure of the bank, the press service added. The bank does not exclude that individuals or other organizations may be subjected to such an attack.
