Sberbank filed a claim with the Moscow Arbitration Court against the European depositary Euroclear in the amount of 665.6 million rubles, it follows from cards affairs. The essence of the claims has not yet been disclosed.
Back in August, the total amount that Russian investors want to sue from the European depositary Euroclear, exceeded 200 billion rubles. Recently, companies, banks and private investors have filed more than 40 lawsuits against the depository. This is due to the fact that in 2022, the European depositories Euroclear and Clearstream blocked NSD accounts, which is why some of the securities of Russian investors were frozen.
At the end of September, the first public example of unlocking assets abroad appeared in practice according to a collective application submitted by a management company – for 250 clients in total for more than $33 million. The procedure for obtaining such a license is similar to an individual one, but due to the large number of participants the application is more complicated in implementation.
