Sberbank estimates its one-time tax on excess profits at 3 billion rubles – Kommersant

Sberbank said that based on the final version of the windfall tax law, the group must pay up to 3 billion rubles to the budget. The bank will deposit this amount as a security deposit by November 30, 2023.
“At the same time, we note that Sberbank is one of the largest taxpayers in the Russian Federation – for 2022, the bank paid income tax in the amount of 310 billion rubles. In addition, according to the results of 2022, Sberbank paid dividends in the amount of 565 billion rubles, ”the bank’s press service said (Kommersant has it).
President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the tax on excess profits on August 4. The one-time business fee will affect companies whose profits for 2021 and 2022 exceeded RUB 1 billion. The tax rate is set at 10% of the excess profit. At the same time, the rate can be reduced to 5% if the company pays the tax in 2023. In accordance with the law, the payment of tax must be made before January 28, 2024. As the government calculated, as a result of a one-time collection, the budget should receive 300 billion rubles, which will subsequently be directed to support the social sphere.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov emphasized that the new tax is only a “one-time fee in agreement with business,” and he considers the introduction of a tax on excess profits on a permanent basis inappropriate.
Some other companies have also already shared their collection estimates. So, the Cherkizovo group said that the tax would cost it 400 million rubles. Qiwi estimated payments for windfall tax at 500 million rubles. Headhunter expects to pay 268 million rubles. All these companies also intend to make a security deposit by November 30.
