Sberbank warned that scammers often create fake Wi-Fi networks and hack existing public hotspots in order to obtain the personal data of Russians in order to steal their funds from their accounts.
“By creating a fake hotspot or hacking public Wi-Fi, scammers can get and use your personal and payment data for their own purposes,” the official says. Telegram channel “Sbera”.
The financial organization advises Russians when connecting to any public Wi-Fi network in a public place, be sure to check whether the access point uses WPA2 / WPA3 encryption (information about this can be found in the “Security type” section in the properties of the Wi-Fi access point).
In addition, Sberbank advised not to use banking applications and other similar services when connecting to public Wi-Fi, and also to go only to secure sites using the https protocol.
