The salvage fee for special equipment, a number of trucks and trailers will increase from 2023. The government explains the indexation by the need to eliminate the price advantage of imported equipment compared to domestic equipment against the backdrop of a weak ruble. The government has approved an increase in the salvage fee for special equipment, a number of trucks and semi-trailers from January 1, 2023. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, indexation is necessary to “equalize the market value of foreign and Russian products.” “As a result of the violation of the existing supply chains, as well as the growth of the ruble, there has been a significant increase in imports of certain categories of automotive, specialized self-propelled and trailed equipment,” the ministry emphasizes. “Under the indicated conditions, the cost of imported equipment has become lower than the cost of products of Russian manufacturers.”

The fee will also increase for:

• rollers – up to 5.2 times (maximum in the segment less than 40 hp),
• front and fork loaders – up to 2.2 times (for machines with a capacity of 250 hp to 300 hp),
• caterpillar tractors – up to 4.9 times (in the segment from 100 hp to 200 hp),
• graders – up to 2.8 times (in the segment from 100 hp to 140 hp).

In 2021, the fee increase that was not accepted assumed indexation up to three times, which was then partially adjusted. That is, the current version differs in special equipment, but in the categories remaining in it – upwards (for example, graders).
