At the end of 2023, the Russian passenger car tire market increased by 16%, to 45.7 million units. This is stated in the presentation of the head of the Cordiant tire holding, Vadim Volodin. According to the company, sales of truck tires also increased – by 12%, to 8.1 million units.

Cordiant is one of the largest manufacturers of car tires in Russia. The company has five sites: in Yaroslavl, Kaluga region (formerly Continental AG), Ulyanovsk (formerly Bridgestone) and two in Omsk.

In an interview with Kommersant, Mr. Volodin said that there is still a decline in the premium segment, because due to sanctions, many Western companies that imported and produced tires in Russia either sharply reduced their business or stopped production altogether. He also complained that supplies for the original equipment in the Russian Federation have “virtually collapsed” because all international car factories have stopped production.
