Sale of assets of Fortum and Unipro not yet considered – Kommersant

The issue of selling the assets of Fortum (owned by the Finnish Fortum) and Unipro (owned by the German Uniper) is not yet being considered, said Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov. Earlier, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, temporary management was introduced in relation to the Russian assets of Fortum and Uniper, and the Federal Property Management Agency was appointed temporary manager.

“Everything related to property and sale, these issues are not yet considered, and they are not provided for by this decree (on external management.— “b”),” Mr. Shulginov told reporters (quoted from “Interfax”). “Who will be in charge, we do not yet know,” the minister also said.

Fortum said that the decree does not affect the ownership of assets and companies in Russia. But it remains unclear how this will affect Fortum’s Russian operations and the ongoing process of selling assets in the Russian Federation, commented on the situation in the company. Since the end of 2022, Uniper has actually been unable to exercise operational control over the Russian asset, the company recalled.

The Federal Property Management Agency said that it would not manage the assets of companies, and these powers would be transferred to Russian companies that suffered from the sanctions of unfriendly states, reports TASS.

25 April Vladimir Putin allowed transfer foreign assets to temporary management in case of seizure of Russian assets abroad. According to the document, 83.73% of the shares of Unipro and 98% of the shares of Fortum came under temporary management.
