Sakhalin-2 exceeded the production plan by 15%, Sakhalin-1 resumed work

The Sakhalin-1 project, on which work has not been carried out since mid-May, has resumed work, said the Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko. According to him, energy production at Sakhalin-2 was overfulfilled by 15% after Shell left.

According to the governor, work on Sakhalin-1 resumed “literally in the last month.” Production and shipments have begun. “But they stood idle for half a year, so half of the planned production did not take place. That is, it is clear that this will be a blow to the next year’s budget,” the head of the region added.

Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 were transferred to Russian jurisdiction after some participants left Russia. The Russian operator Sakhalin-1 received all the rights of Exxon Neftegas Limited, which announced its withdrawal from the country. Due to the refusal of the American Exxon to ship oil to Sovcomflot tankers, work on the project was suspended. Rosneft became the managing company of the operator. Shell held a 27.5% stake in the Sakhalin-2 project. After the transfer of the project to Russian jurisdiction, the company refused to receive its share. The controlling stake is now under the control of the structure of “Gazprom”.
